hot crayon melt

This is an all time favorite project here at the studio. We use old fashioned food warming trays covered with tin foil. The children use peeled crayons and draw on the tin foil. The crayon melts as they draw (fascinating!). We then make a mono-print by taking a piece of paper, placing it on the drawing/tin foil. The children take a roller and roll the back of the paper....WAA LAA a beautiful mono-print worth framing!

Can you tell me what you use to warm the crayons? I am coating my drawings with wax and hold it next to a candle which gets soot in the wax.
